Rounded Rectangle: Nature fhada.com

I’m not much of a nature photographer and I know this because I have seen great pictures from great nature photographers.  I particularly admire bird photographers because this takes a lot of commitment, time and yes, expensive equipment!  Here are some of my photos.  I do take pictures of mushrooms so take a look at these…

Bee in Flower, Butchart Gardens

Butchart Gardens is a fantastic place to go and one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen.  I noticed that bees were buzzing around these flowers so I chased them down with my camera.  It was a bit windy so I added a small amount of flash to allow me to freeze their motion.  It takes a lot of pictures to get a good one.

Flower, Geumo Mountain, South Korea

There is a small shrine just outside the park and just inside there were fantastic bushes with large red flowers.  I really liked the shape of the inside of the flower so I had to use a tripod to make sure I had the right depth of field to have the petals and the stamens both in focus at the same time.

Orchids, Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, Big Island

The Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens is one of the best places to visit on the Big Island of Hawaii.  There are many orchids in the garden and they would all make a great picture.  I was particularly intrigued with these because of their unusual shape and color.  I also liked it that they were in a pair.

Otters, Skansen Zoo, Stockholm, Sweden

I don’t usually take pictures of animals.  That is a highly specialized field – especially if they are in the wild.  Taking pictures of animals in a zoo is close enough to the wild for me.  You can watch otters play all day and I was very lucky to get this fantastic shot  that appears that the otters are posing for me.

Violet, Ramsviklandet, Sweden

Ramsviklandet is an island in Bohuslän on the Atlantic coast of Sweden.  Practically the entire island is a nature preserve and you can wander at will over the barren rocks.  These violets were in a little hollow of soil sheltered from the direct wind.  I like the complementary colors of the lilac flowers with the red flowers behind.
